Safeguarding
Safeguarding at Darul Uloom London
Safeguarding is central to everything we do. Darul Uloom London is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, in accordance with section 157 of the Education Act 2002 and Keeping Children Safe in Education, and expects all staff, volunteers, trustees and visitors to share this commitment.
Safeguarding children is defined in Working together to safeguard children as:
- protecting children from maltreatment
- preventing impairment of children’s health or development
- ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
- taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
If you are worried about a child

Boarders
Every boarder can talk to any adult he trusts, to the Head of Boarding and Designated Safeguarding Lead, or to one of two independent listeners who are not school staff and can be telephoned directly at any reasonable time. Their details are in the Boarders’ Booklet and on the boarding noticeboards, with the free helplines above. Boarders and parents may also raise a concern about a boarder’s welfare with Ofsted, which inspects boarding welfare: 0300 123 1231 or enquiries@ofsted.gov.uk.
Online safety
The school’s internet is filtered and monitored to keep pupils safe, and every pupil signs an acceptable use agreement. Our e-Safety Policy explains the arrangements. We keep parents up to date with new and emerging online risks through parents’ evenings, newsletters and this website.
CEOP (the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command) is part of the UK’s National Crime Agency and works nationally and internationally to bring online child sex offenders to justice.
